Ceiling Damp Repair
Whilst this can be an expensive option it will help to prevent any further deterioration of the building and reduce the need for preventative measures in future.
Ceiling damp repair. If you re not sure of the cause of a damp patch on a wall try the foil test. Old caulking is a common source of water seepage. Then take a knife or a screwdriver and stab it.
With a drill and 1 2 inch twist bit drill a hole in the center of the damaged area. Depending on the leak this may involve simply touching up with a bit of spackle and paint or it might mean replacing and repainting the entire ceiling. If there is active dripping drill at exactly the spot where the water is dripping.
Dry it once again or cut out the still wet portions. If you can t identify a possible water source above the ceiling stain you may have a leaky pipe. Gypsum drywall that has been damaged by water should be replaced even if it has dried completely.
Be careful as water may pour down. If you can t fix the roof at once tarp the roof to prevent more water from penetrating it and then deal with the problem when the weather clears. Allow the damp spot in the ceiling to dry.
Rinse the bleach solution off the ceiling with water from a spray bottle then wipe the damp area dry with a clean cloth. If the ceiling drywall has bulged out place a bucket underneath the swollen section. Piping or a shower pan that has come into disrepair is also a possibility.
If you can repair the roof to stop the leak do so immediately if diy repairs are beyond your realm call a roof repair contractor. Place a bucket below the damaged area of the ceiling or where dripping is occurring. Install a damp proof course.
