Ceiling Fan Chain Broke
Open up the switch in the ceiling fan and remove the broken piece of chain before replacing it with a longer one.
Ceiling fan chain broke. Today we fix a pull chain for the fan control of a ceiling fan for free. Next remove the cover on the fan housing or the globe light so you can access the switch and unscrew the nut on the outside of the switch that holds it on. Open up the switch in the ceiling fan and remove the broken piece of chain.
A few models do allow you to reattach the chain but you must access the switch before. Another is to turn off the breaker that supplies power to the fan but this will probably knock out several other things and third is to get a hold of what is left of the chain activate the rotary switch built into the fan. If your ceiling fan pull chain is broken because it was pulled out of the switch there s an easy way to fix it.
But there is no need to replace the entire ceiling fan or even call in a technician for this repair. Examine the switch to see if the chain can be reattached. Pull the switch out of the housing from the inside leaving the wires attached.

This is an easy fix that takes little time. Start by turning off the circuit breaker to the fan. The switch will also need to be replaced if the chain will not pull down or if it broke off inside the fan housing.
