Fitting A New Ceiling Light
This is the new light fitting.
Fitting a new ceiling light. If there s a copper wire pre installed in your ceiling connect the new wire there. Use a phillips screwdriver to unscrew the mounting screws and bring down the light. Turn off the power to the existing light.
You should follow the instructions with your light fitting carefully. Connect the brown core to the live terminal the blue to the neutral terminal and the earth insulated with green yellow sleeving to the earth terminal. Attach the wires from the new fixture with wire nuts to the corresponding wires in the electrical box.
Find the main breaker box and turn off either the individual breaker for. If this is not the case then we will need to adapt the rose connections to suit the fitting you have. Inspect the wiring in the outlet box.
Then run a length of 1 mm two core and earth cable from your new light rose. If you just have a small green screw on your mounting plate wrap the new copper wire around that. It is not uncommon for the earth wires to be bare metal if they are then they need sleeving with some green and yellow sleeving.
Secure the new fixture and adjust length if there s a chain. Lower the fixture base and remove the electrical tape or wire nuts from the black hot wire white neutral wire and if present green ground wire. Subscribe to our channel and like our video.
